Abura Literacy School

Abura is the biggest suburb in the Cape Coast Metropolis, with a population of 9,650 people. The Abura Literacy School started in February 1998, with an initial intake of 34 children.

The aim of a literacy school is to teach children in the community who are not at school and those who have stopped schooling, until they are ready to be re-integrated into the community and the regular education system.

To date, some 400 children have been re-integrated.

The school has requested funding for the provision of a water tank and tables and chairs for the children. The trustees of the Teach Ghana Trust approved a grant for these requests at the meeting held on the 30th April 2011.
